Understanding Family Medical Leave

Family Care and Medical Leave (FML) is available to eligible employees in accordance with the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the California Family Rights Act (CFRA) and Collective Bargaining Unit Agreements. FML may be used for yourself or an eligible family member.

Upon completion of FML, you are entitled to return to the same or similar position with equivalent benefits, pay and conditions of employment. You are also entitled to retain any health insurance benefits during time away from work due to FML.

Process to Return to Work

Complete the Return to Work Certification [pdf] and forward to the Leave Program Manager. You may not return to work without the approval of the Leave Program Manager.
